How to service a Magnaclean filter

How does it work?

The Clearflow power flushing pump is simply connected into the heating system, either across standard circulator pump couplings, across the tails of one radiator, or the most practical location.

The powerful flow, combined with instantaneous flow reverser device and cleaning chemiclas will dislodge and mobilise deposits and corrosion which resists traditional system cleaning methods.

Once the corrosion and sludge deposits have been loosened and mobilised, fresh clean water is forced through the heating system, pushing the contaminated water out through a full bore dump valve to waste.

During the Clearflow process, radiators are individually flushed without removing or disconnecting them from the system.

At the end of the flushing process, the system contains fresh clean water and reinstatement of the system to normal operation takes only a few minutes.

After flushing a central heating system, we add corrosion inhibitor and advise customers to have it added every year or every time the system is drained down. This chemical greatly reduces corrosion / sludge in the future.

As well as this, we recommend fitting a magnetic filter. This removes black iron oxide from the heating system water. Several versions are available but we favour the magnaclean from Adey or Spirotech Magnabooster MB3 installed widely by British Gas and most boiler insurance companies. We can fit these filters without powerflushing and have seen good results after a short space of time.

How The Magnaclean Works

The idea behind the Magnaclean is brilliantly simple. As water flows through your heating system (pipes, radiators and your boiler etc, it picks up small amounts of swarf (small particles of metal and debris) The Magnaclean contains a magnet, as water flows back from the heating system, the Magnaclean, picks up the swarf, which sticks to the magnet and therefore does not continue to flow through your heating system, boiler and radiators, which can cause sludge that is corrosive. This also protects the heat exchanger in the boiler and this stops the water ways from furring up and becoming small, further impairing the performance of your boiler.

The Magnaclean offers added protection to your boiler against damage, helps it to last longer and to run more efficiently.  This reduces the risk of central heating breakdowns, will give you substantial savings on central heating maintenance as well as extending the life of the heat exchanger and system pump.

Please note, we don't power flush microbore systems, but we know a specialist company that does.
